The Ford Ecort mk2 RS2000 was an Iconic thoroughbred, with its RS1800 brethern leading the way in rallying this was the practical RS for the road. Originally powered by a 2.0 litre Pinto developing 110bhp at around 5500 rpm the RS was lower powered than the majority of todays hot hatches, but it was a combination of torque, light weight and rear wheel drive which allowed this car a blend of pace and handling which in the right hands can still compete in the same arena as the modern AWD japanese machinery and in a few situations come out on top. This section of the web site is devoted to my slow restoration of my 1980 RS2000 custom, a long often painful, always costly procedure which is soon to result in the completion of my car to almost full group1 rally specification.
