Peugeot 106 Rallye

Clean!!
The 106 Rallye was originally devised as a homologation special for the one make European rally series which became a small marketing excersise. Production of the S2 106 Rallye started in 1997 and it continued to 2000 (1998 for British imports) when production ceased to make way for a new 16valve rallye (not available in the UK). To date it is the rarest 106 model ever produced with just 500 examples being sold in the UK. The philosophy behind the car was simple, make it light and give it enough power and it will fly. In standard form the 8valve TU produces 103bhp at 6200rpm from its 1.6 litres. This allows the 10% heavier 120bhp GTi to gain the advantage in a straight line, but with reduced weight and Identical braking force (less ABS) the rallye is better through the corners. Thanks to being purchased as second cars many Rallyes are still around and in excellent condition. Many have been modified beyond the original specifications, and some have been butchered by the boy racing scene. Over the following pages I shall reveal the current specifications of my 1998 106 S2 Rallye.
